Brief Summary of Job Description
The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Department of Music, Theatre, & Dance is seeking a Staff Collaborative Pianist. Opportunities for additional compensation for collaboration with students, faculty, and guest artists are available. This position is a renewable full-time, nine-month appointment and will begin on August 9th, 2021.
Job Duties
Duties for this position will be to provide collaborative piano services in support of instruction and public presentation that includes rehearsals, and performances for vocal ensembles, including some—but not all—of the following: UNK Choraleers, Collegium, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, Opera Workshop or Music Theatre Productions, and Nebraskats, Multi-day Choir Tours as well as select faculty/student recitals and other duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend availability both on and off-campus will be required. Opportunities for additional compensation for collaboration with students, faculty, and guest artists are available.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, Accompanying, or Collaborative Piano; Strong Sight Reading Skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Music degree in Accompanying or Collaborative Piano; professional experience in collaborative performance, in several of the following categories: choral ensemble, opera/musical theatre, vocal and instrumental recital chamber ensembles.
Schedule M-F, 8 am-5 pm, 40 hours, Some evening and weekend availability both on and off-campus will be required.
