911 Dispatcher
Apply today to be the first point of contact when someone calls 911 and be the link between individuals needing help and the officers in the field. A 911 Dispatcher is responsible for receiving & prioritizing all emergency & non-emergency requests for service & for dispatching appropriate service providers. This is a position of critical importance for community & public safety, operating 24/7 including nights, weekends, & holiday shifts. This position is fast-paced, multi-task oriented, & demands quick decisions when helping people in emergency situations.
Requirements: Requires equivalency of high school graduation & 1 year of 911 Public Safety Dispatch experience OR 2 years of work experience in multi-tasking environment. Emergency dispatching experience within the last 7 years is highly desired. One must type at least 45 wpm & remain calm in an atmosphere of changing priorities & periods of high stress. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
Hiring Range: $24.97/hour. to $35.90/hour.– DOQ.
Selection: Selection based on requirements/rating of training & experience. Candidates meeting MQs who pass a typing test will be forwarded to the hiring manager for additional assessments and interview. Final selection will include assessment tests, oral interview, background investigation, physical & hearing exam, psychological evaluation, drug testing, and approval by the County Board.
