LPN BEDSIDE

Gives direct care to patients in the age group of adults and geriatrics. Supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or RN Charge Nurse to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. LPN is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out the assigned duties. Performs duties the Charge Nurse will be required to perform.

Education and/or experience: Current license to practice as an LPN/LVN in the state of Tennessee required. Must possess a valid driver’s license for transport of specimens, etc. to Blount Memorial Hospital.

Knowledge: Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care. Knowledgeable in administering medications and treatments. Possess knowledge in observing, recording and reporting on changes in resident’s conditions and their reactions to drugs and other treatments.

Abilities: Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must possess leadership, flexibility & supervisory ability along with the willingness to work harmoniously with & supervise other personnel. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
